Northumberland Soapworks is a small family owned business that started with a strong background in chemistry, and a search for natural, toxin free products for our children. It has been 13 years now, and we make over 40 different varieties of soap, as well as natural herbal skin care, priding ourselves on quality products and personal customer service. Our passion is to provide our customers with truly natural products that are safe and a pleasure to use.

Our Farm

We moved to the Northumberland area in 1997, to our "dream home", and have been growing our own produce for over 13 years, taking any surplus to the farmers' market along with our handmade soaps. In the last few years we have been planting more, particularly heirloom varieties, and this year we opened for farmgate sales. As well we keep a few cows, roasting chickens and laying hens, so limited quantities of those may be available.

On our 10 acre property we have a small orchard of delicious apples and juicy sweet pears. Concord grapes thrive on the south side of the barn, and we have two large patches of blackberries and red raspberries. Last year we planted over 50 blueberry bushes and are hoping they do well. In the gardens we grow spinach, salad greens and mesclun mix, peas, beans, radishes, zucchini, broccoli, strawberries, tomatoes, rhubarb and carrots. We tend a variety of herbs and wildcraft some plants for use in teas and in our soaps. We are not certified organic but strive to grow everything as naturally as we can.

We try to live a natural, simple lifestyle, and truly enjoy our time in the gardens and taking care of our animals. You can usually find one of us or our 3 growing boys chopping wood, digging in the soil, or playing by the pond.

It is now our pleasure to offer customers local, natural and affordable produce. Farm Gate Shop open Fridays and Saturdays 11 am to 5 pm May to December. Now also carrying Dancing Bee Apiaries liquid honey and beeswax candles.
